High-performance SCCs containing fly ash
  K. Ganesh Babu and B. Chandrasekhar
Concrete has undergone several modifications over the years and the recent concept of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is one such. The requirement of increased fines for self-compactability in SCCs is often met through the use of fly ash. The paper attempts to study the methods of the proportioning and also correlate the primary considerations for arriving at an effective SCC through a large database compiled. The pozzolanic efficiency of fly ash in these concretes at its various levels was analyzed and compared with a few concretes investigated in the laboratory. Based on this a design methodology was proposed ensuring SCCs of higher performance.
