Strength improvement studies of bacterial concrete

  The bacterial concrete can be prepared by adding spore forming bacteria in the concrete that can continuously precipitate calcite. This process of formation of calcite precipitation is called, “Microbially induced calcite precipitation”. In this study, B. Pasteurii bacteria is added to concrete along with water to determine its effect on the strength and self-healing property of concrete. The total viable count of colony forming units noted as Bacteria per ml of solution. Two concentrations 107 cells/ml and 108 cells/ml were used for this study. The culture was nurtured according to their concentration. The cubes and beams prepared for M20 grade concrete.
